Summary

This story was alright。 My almost 3 year old loved to yell out which animal was coming next so it was a nice touch having them appear on the facing page。 A simple story that definitely feels “in translation” in a way I can’t put my finger on。 The illustration style is unique and sweet but almost so subtle you don’t really notice it and have to take time to think about what must have gone into each image。 Worth a read but not a purchase。

I love this story because; who as a child has never dreamed of touching the moon or has not imagined what happens there? Or what how does the moon taste like? What color will is it? Will it be as big as it seems? Will it be far away? Well, the same thing happens to the animals in this story。The tortoise appeared and he had an idea, he would go up to the highest mountain and from there he would try to reach the moon。 But even though the moon seemed to be closer, I still could not touch it, so the I love this story because; who as a child has never dreamed of touching the moon or has not imagined what happens there? ¿A que sabrá?。http://www。nadiecuentacuentosya。com/2。。。 。。。more

folktale feel to this one, lots of tales have animals and/or people working together to touch or taste the moon。 This one also just kind of ends。

Colette

Never underestimate someone due to their size, or abilities, and taste the moon。

The animals want to know what the moon tasted like, so they climbed on top of the highest mountain, and climbed on each other’s shoulder。 With a lot of efforts, they finally caught the moon and tasted it。 The book is a great story to read with children because it covers many topics including tastes, the concept of “on” and “under”, the animals, and the phases of the moon。 Children who are interested in one of those topics will be attracted and have an opportunity to learn about the other topics。 The animals want to know what the moon tasted like, so they climbed on top of the highest mountain, and climbed on each other’s shoulder。 With a lot of efforts, they finally caught the moon and tasted it。 The book is a great story to read with children because it covers many topics including tastes, the concept of “on” and “under”, the animals, and the phases of the moon。 Children who are interested in one of those topics will be attracted and have an opportunity to learn about the other topics。 In addition, the author does a great job making the story line very simple。 He didn’t explain why the animals want to taste the moon, and how exactly the moon tastes like, which opens the doors to questions and ideas from children。 The simple composition of the pictures on each page allows teachers to print the animals, the mountains, and the moon out into pieces on a black paper。 Typically developing children can do a puzzle of the story or act the story out, while children with special needs can manipulate all the compositions and learn languages。This book might be put on a bookshelf for literacy-animal names, art-collage, science-tastes and moon phases。 。。。more

This book was so much fun to read aloud in Storytime。 It was adorable to see all the kids closing their eyes, thinking of their favorite thing to eat, and telling them that's what the moon tastes like:)。 They also loved telling me which animal was coming to help next。 This book was so much fun to read aloud in Storytime。 It was adorable to see all the kids closing their eyes, thinking of their favorite thing to eat, and telling them that's what the moon tastes like:)。 They also loved telling me which animal was coming to help next。 。。。more

The animals want to find out what the moon tastes like。 They pile one on top of one another until the mouse is able to break off a bit of the moon for them to taste。 And everyone thinks it tastes like what they like best。 It is a charming read aloud for young children!

Gary

Used this for my storytelling session today! I really loved this one。 Kept the kids guessing whether each additional animal could finally help to reach the moon。 Useful book to teach them about sharing and helping one another!

Love the art。 Already trying to figure out how to work it into a story time activity。

My son, almost 3 years old, loves the story and how the animals are friends with each other。 Is his favorite bedtime story。
